The Premier League's initiative to Combat Racism

The Premier League has begun an initiative to help curb the spread of racism, not only in the Premier league but in the United Kingdom as a whole. The program is called No room for racism. It has made itself an initiative that promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion in soccer. No room for racism has plans to take a stand against racism and to make a change. They have set up a phone number for reporting racism at any of their stadiums. This hotline will seek to know what is happening in the stadium and escort them off the premises and ban them for life. They also will take any legal action they find suitable by reporting it to the proper authorities. The Premier League actually will go into schools in the United Kingdom and teach kids to understand what racism is and how to stop it. The Premier League has also committed to wearing a badge on every Premier League Jersey that has a No room for racism badge to spread awareness. Every club in the Premier League has also committed itself to backing No room for racism. I think this a class act from the Premier League and its clubs as racism is a sad part of sports. The Premier League has also launched a video including a player from every club in the league in a video saying that there is “no room for racism anywhere”. This really helps spread awareness and offers a way to teach people about it. I like the fact they also included the badge on every jersey because it shows that it’s something that everyone in the league is against. This is an initiative the Premier League will keep up and running and is something they seek to continue year-round. In conclusion this a something I think the Premier League is completely right in doing and shows they care.
