leonardopineda6

In todays article we will be discussing the results of Burnley vs. Everton.

Both sides come into the match near the bottom of the table, Everton in seventeenth place and Burnley in Eighteenth place respectively. Everton have been in some of the worst form the club has ever seen in recent times. Meanwhile Burnley has always been a club looking to escape relegation every season. This game is crucial for both teams as a win for either side would be crucial for there push to stay in the Premier League.

Burnley won the match 3-2 in a close game that sees them sit only one point behind Everton in the race to keep their heads above water. For Burnley this is a massive push for them to stay in the Premier League and continue to build upon the clubs success. For Everton this is a disaster, not only have they been playing terrible, but if they do get relegated it would be the first time since 1950 that they would not be playing in the top tier of English soccer.

Match Stats: Each side had 4 shots on target and possession of the ball was almost evenly split with Burnley have 51% and Everton 49%. Each team had accumulated 2 yellow cards by the end of the match.

Scorers: Nathan Collins scored the opener in the twelfth minute off a corner. Only three minutes later Burnley conceded a penalty kick and Richarlsen equalized from the spot. In the 40th minute Burnley concede yet another penalty after VAR review and Richarlsen converts it making it 2-1 Everton before half time. Shortly after halftime Burnley come out firing and in the 57th minute score the equalizer by Jay Rodriguez. Finally in the dyeing embers of the game Burnley force a mis-clearance from an Everton defender and have a tap in, in the 85th minute to wrap up the game and take all 3 points.

Going forward: Everton must maintain a good record going into the final stretch of matches if they seek to be safe from embarrassment, and relegation. As for Burnley, they ,must continue to earn results if they want to edge out Everton and be safe from relegation.
